After years of straightening my hair, due to the pressure to confirm to societies ideals of beauty, and hating what I thought it looked like naturally, in 2012 I decided to ditch the straightners, and begin to embrace my natural hair.
Combined with my extensive research into harfmul chemicals and preservatives that are a mainstay in many products; couples with my frustration of going through the products I bought for my curls so quickly= Olew was born! Since then, I have been on a mission to encourage others to embrace and love their natural hair too, and to always wear it with pride and confidence!
To reflect my journey of self-discovery whcih has led me to not only fall back in love with my natural hair, but also myself. I names the brand Olew, the Welsh word for oil, to pay homage to my curly roots and my Welsh roots too!
